Failed to launch server application from the same file another user can get into.  I can also view this file with no problems.

    Hi Larry,

This looks like a permission issue... Have you checked if the domain user that logs into GP does actually be part of the sharing permissions on the OLE notes folder on the GP server ?

I usually grant R/W permissions to a domain group, and then put the GP domain user's login into that AD group.. much less trouble to manage.

Everyone has full access to the folder:

    \\dbc-gp2013\MODDYNAMICS\OLENOTES

    Larry,

Can you post a screenshot of the error message ? when does it happen exactly ?

One way of troubleshooting this issue could be to run DEXsql trace file.. GP PowerTools is very handy in such cases, as you can start it right before the event and stop it right after it happens, limiting considerably the amount of collected data..

here's a KB article about the trace setup :

    Larry,

if you tried to post a screenshot, this works not with copy/paste.. you have to switch in 'rich formatting' mode and click on the small pic icon to import a saved screenshot..

A Dexsql.log will not help with this issue. I have seen this error when the application needed to open the OLE attachment is not installed on the machine where you are trying to launch it from, or the container.exe application itself is missing.

Mariano had even written a blog post about it way back in 2008..

Maybe there could be some hints about what to look for ?

I'm not seeing anywhere on how to see if the OLE attachment is not installed.  On one particular customer there are several files.  There is one that will open for him the rest will not, so i'm thinking it is installed.
