    Hi Larry,

Glad you got it to work ! I was going to say that at this point it's no longer a GP client issue, but something else that must prevent the attachment to open..

I got it to work.  The problem was he has 2 pdf programs on his machine.  I had to right click a .pdf and change it to always open with adobe and it worked.  I then changed it back to always open with Ecopy and now it works.

    Hi Larry,

Add IsDocAttachNoteDDL=TRUE in Dex.ini file of your client folder. When using the INI setting, the attachment icon button becomes a drop-down button. This allows you to select if you want the OLE files or if you have Document attachment files. The drop down is displayed as shown below:

    Hope this resolves your issue.

    Thanks,

    Smitha

    Hi Larry,

at this point I'd try to rename the original GP folder on that user's computer and copy over from a known working computer the whole GP program folder.. Make sure that the same shared OLE Notes path is accessible in the DEX.ini for this computer..

PS: if that fails, try re-installing the GP client in full on this computer.

Yes, from the collection main window.  When I click on the note symbol it takes me to the notes and I click the attach button.  It takes me to all the notes that are attached for the customer I have chosen.  When the user tries to open it, is when the error occurs

    Hi Larry,

Are you trying to view the OLE Note in GP?

I'm not seeing anywhere on how to see if the OLE attachment is not installed.  On one particular customer there are several files.  There is one that will open for him the rest will not, so i'm thinking it is installed.

Mariano had even written a blog post about it way back in 2008..

Maybe there could be some hints about what to look for ?

A Dexsql.log will not help with this issue. I have seen this error when the application needed to open the OLE attachment is not installed on the machine where you are trying to launch it from, or the container.exe application itself is missing.
