Need to unallocate project allocated inventory

We have an item (qty 2) that was received as goods for project inventory.  We would like to release the project allocation, but have been unsuccessful.

When we go to the Project Inventory Allocation (10.080.00) screen and attempt to unallocate, we get a message stating, "The quantitiy being unallocated is greater than the quantity remaining to be issued 0.  2 is already bein consumed."

When I do an Inventory Allocated to Projects Inquiry it shows (2) in Qty Remain to Issue.

We have run Integrity checks on Inventory, Order Management, and Purchasing to no avail.

Has anyone else run into this or have any insight on how we can fix it?

Thanks.

    Valerie,

What is the number of the system message you receive when attempting to unallocate the inventory?  In Inventory Allocated to Project Inquiry - if you click Activity, what kind of activity has taken place for this allocation - was it just the PO Receipt or is there more?

    Regards,

    Hello Jennifer,

    The system message is 28113.

The only line the shows up in the Inventory Allocated to Project Inquiry is the initial allocation.

    Valerie,

I am able to duplicate the 28113 message on my demo database, if I create an IN Issues batch for this allocated inventory item/qty, but, don't release it.  Do you have any unreleased IN Issues batches with this invtid/qty in it?  If you are unsure - you can look in the screen or run the following in query on the application database:

select batnbr, * from intran where invtid = 'xxxxxx' and rlsed = 0

Let me know what you find.

We do not have any unreleased IN Issue batches.  I also ran the SQL query and it returned zero results.

    Valerie,

The INPrjAllocation table should store the transactions pending to consume project allocations - do you see a record or records in this table for the inventory id, siteid, warehouse location, project/task, etc....  Or, the INPrjAllocHistory table shows the historical activity - do you see any history records related to the combination?

The error message indicates the quantity is pending consumption - if the Integrity Check doesn't resolve it - the system is determined the records are correct.  I'm not sure we'll be able to resolve this via a forum, but rather, you may have to create a support request to resolve the error message.

In looking at the INPrjAllocHistory table, it appears that the items were somehow received twice against this PO.  I think I remember seeing where 2 were then returned against the PO, however, this does not show up on the INPrjAllocHistory table.

Could this be causing the issue?  And if so, is there something we can do to release it?

Thank you for the update - I am able to duplicate the 21138 on the demo database after entering a PO, processing a receipt, processing a return, then processing a new receipt - I am not able to unallocate that quantity.  I'm currently looking for a workaround - I'll let you know what I find.

This appears to be a bug - I've written bug 24781 to address the issue.  At this point, the only workaround I know is to return the quantity back out of inventory - then, re-receive it against a new PO using Goods for Inventory, or, after processing the PO Return, enter an IN Receipt or IN Adjustment to bring the quantity/cost on hand to be used as needed.
