Unable to Sync contacts between Business Central & Office 365 Outlook?

I am having trouble syncing my contacts between Office 365 and Business Central.

I have followed the instructions on this link https://business-central.to-increase.com/md/en-US/admin-synchronize-outlook-contacts.md

The connection is validated as working and the "Business Central" folder is showing in my contacts however creating a contact in Business Central or Outlook and neither sync up. It shows it has run on the outlook synchronization but nothing copying across?

Any ideas where i am going wrong would be really helpful!

Many thanks

Sorry after reading properly - It can only link up the Type=Person not Type=Company - so contacts would need to be set to this to Sync up.

Thanks for that, just a real shame Microsoft seem to be missing a trick here. The idea is we are moving all of our business data to use Microsoft platforms so the data is connected in one common place (Telephone/Accounts/Email within office 365).

    At the moment...

Accounts: Business central only updates "Person" contacts, not "Companies" as well. So only half of that data is linked up.

Email: Contacts only update from personal folder in outlook and do not link from seperate folders i.e. "Business Central" to link up company contacts

Telephone: Contacts created on your phone do not link back to your outlook and BC and so on.

I would have thought Microsoft would have tried to build this all as one seamless/cohesive system where information is available everywhere, seems to be easier to connect to 3rd parties than their own data!

    Hello,

First of all, I do fully understand what you are saying. It is indeed true that in MSDyn365BC we offer a very limited option to synch contacts of person type to Exchange Online. If this does not meet your business needs, you can opt to look at other additional options like MSDyn365 CE. Primary focus in MSDyn365BC is that this is an ERP product and not a CRM product.

We used to have an OnPrem solution called Outlook Synch where we had to synch contacts of type company and synch contacts of type person to separate folders simply because in MSDyn365BC / MSDynNAV, this does work different compared to Outlook where these types are not separated.

If you would like Microsoft to also invest in this area in the SaaS release of MSDyn365BC, please raise an idea via https://aka.ms/bcideas.

    Thanks.
