Not able to add the item to BOM in production order

I have a production order that is in STARTED state. 
I am trying to add one item to the BOM in production order with BOM Type as Vendor. I had already added the same item earlier and the purchase order that was created for the earlier item line has been invoiced.
When I am trying to add the same item again (as it again needs to be consumed in Production order), it gives me the below error:
"You are attempting to enter values that will change the source document amounts for this purchase order PO2526-004586; line Item-001; quantity 1.00; line number 1. Because invoicing of this purchase order has started, you are not allowed to make changes to these values."
 
How can this error be resolved?

    Hi,
     
    Can you tell us if you need additional items ordered or that you tried to correct something and should continue with the original order quantity? 
    You can check if there is a pending invoice linked to the purchase order being the root cause for this error.

    Can you confirm if you are trying to add the same BOM item once again to the same BOM with BOM types as Vendor? The errors seem to be pointing that you already have this item with same BOM type in the BOM already present for which is in the processes of invoicing.

    We are trying to order a new item. We also have the same item already a part of BOM and there is another purchase order linked but it is in invoiced state. There are no pending invoices too.

    Yes, we are trying to order the same item with BOM type as Vendor and it is also a part of the existing BOM. There is a purchase order linked to the existing item and is in invoiced state. 
    So it is not really clear cause we need a same item again for which a new PO should ideally be created but that’s what is not happening.

    Thanks for your reply. I do assume you tried editing the production related BOM. Did you add a new line or did you try to update the quantity of the existing line? Can you also tell the business reason for this requirement? Why do you need to order the same item again?

    Hi @André Arnaud de Calavon, we tried to add a new line to the production order BOM. We have a business scenario where we do not know all the items that will be needed in the production order. It is a type of maintenance task that we are performing, and the items depends on the damage of the machine. Hence, we add the items as and when they are needed. Hope that helps!

    Thanks again for your reply. I haven't used this scenario before on production orders. Have you checked Asset management features or FIeld Service as alternative? It sounds like you are performing maintenance, or is it actually creating a new finished product?
     
    Anyway, when adding lines, I would assume they will distinct based on the field Lot ID (InventTransID). When you add a complete different item, do you get the same or similar errors?

    @André Arnaud de Calavon - We are performing maintenance here for the machines that are sold to our customers. Yes, there is a different Lot ID for the items. 
    And yes, even if I add a completely different item, it throws the same error.
     
    What I observed is: This is not happening for all the orders. It is a few records for which this error is being shown. There might have been some configuration change or deviation in the process by users. We are currently trying to create a purchase order manually and proceed.

    This is interesting. If it is working on other orders and not this one, then indeed the process might have been done different. I quickly checked the validation logic that raises this error. It is evaluated in case the field IsInvoiceMatched is set to true on the purchase order line. This field is not visible on the user interface.
    For new lines, this field should not be set to true.

    @André Arnaud de Calavon - Thanks much for analyzing the cause of the error. Can we set this field from front end? I do not think so as I tried and could not see. Also, adding the product to BOM lines with BOM Type as Vendor automatically generates the PO and hence no control there on setting this field Yes/No.
