Does anyone knows what is the behavior of the Created By Field in Email Message Entity?

The scenario is:

User 1 - Sys Admin Role

User 2 - Sys Admin Role

User 3 - Sys Admin Role

User 1 sent an email using CRM to User 2

Checking the records in the advance find

the owner and created by is set to User 1 and has a status reason of sent

after that, there is another record created the owner is set to User 2 and has the status reason of received but the created by is set to someone that is not involved in the email which is User 3.

hmmm...Is user 3 used also as a Service Account - for example are the CRM AppPool or the CRM Async Service running under Users 3 identity?

    Hi Hayden,

By any chance User 2 and User 3 have the same email address?

    Hi Radu,

    Thanks for the reply

As per checking it is enabled.

Unfortunately not, When the user 1 sent via crm to user 2. The email was created and has the status of sent, the owner is user 1 and created by is user 1, also there is another email created with the status of received, Owner is User 2 and created by is User 3.

User 3 has no relation on the email that was send and not even a recipient on the email. How come it was created by User 3?

Already try working this scenario on a development environment but i cannot reproduced the error. When i am trying to copy the scenario stated above the only difference is the created by. It is set to a right user which is User 2.

As per checking there is no plug-ins, workflows, case creation rules triggered on incoming emails.

    Cheers,

    Hayden

    Hi Hayden,

Can you please check if you enabled in the system settings to track emails between CRM users as two separate activities (see more details here - dynamicscrmpros.com/understanding-different-options-tracking-e-mails-microsoft-dynamics-crm) - in that case, is the Created By of the received email "SYSTEM"?

Also, do you have any plug-ins, workflows, case creation rules triggered on incoming emails?

    Hope this helps!

    Radu
