Wharehouse reclassification or item journal and lot number assignment

Hi community,

In wharehouse reclassification or item journal, it seems that you can't assign lot number from a No. Series in Item Tracking Lines as you could do in Warehouse receipt Item tracking lines.

Is there any work around ? Did I miss any parameter ?

Thanks for your help.

I have the same question (0)

You did not miss any parameter. This is standard Business Central behavior. In Item Journals and Warehouse Reclassification Journals, lot numbers cannot be automatically assigned from a No. Series the same way they can in Warehouse Receipt / Purchase Receipt item tracking lines.

    Hi Alex,

Lot No Series is set up in item card, in item tracking tab.
It permits to generate an incremental lot number in Item tracking line using function Assign lot number, in a Warehouse Receipt for example.
My point is that this function Assign lot number, is not available for item tracking lines in warehouse journals

    Hi Kushbhu,

    Thank you for your answer.

Don't you find weird that this function is not available in warehouse journals ? Is there any technical or business reason why this is missing ?
I'm unable to explain the reason why it's missing to my customers

It’s definitely available in the Item Journal. The Item Tracking Lines page used in the Item Journal and in a Warehouse Receipt is the same page, so the functionality to assign lot numbers from a number series is available in both places.

It’s not available in the Item Reclassification Journal or the Warehouse Reclassification Journal because those journals are not intended for bulk receiving inventory. They are meant to correct or adjust item parameters that are wrong. In practice, lot numbers should be assigned at the time of receipt using the appropriate receiving documents.

It’s also not available in the Warehouse Item Journal for the same reason. That journal is not designed for bulk receiving items.
