I have been seeing a message pop up on my system which was showing
"granted a free non-production instance?"
will it cost me or it won't cost an extra charge.

It is really free, no additional costs will be charged.
If your Dynamics 365 subscription includes 25 or more full users (or more), you will be granted an additional non-production instance at no cost.
