Service Quote report: How to show Total Hours for resources?

(2) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 73
Our customer DOES NOT want their customers to see which resource worked during a job.

Instead, he wants to show an accumulated total of /Labor Hours/

My thoughts were to...
1) Hide rows from the Service Lines of type /Resource/ - this is working, see above
2) Sum rows of type /Resource/ as a subtotal above /Total/ box - unsure how to go about this

I have the same question (0)

Hi, for the second point, I think this needs customization, you need to add a new total field.
Hopefully the information below can give you some tips.

    Thanks.

I would get a developer to customize the rdlc report. The report would simply sum all line items with the type resource. This way you don't need to change the current process of how service orders are created.

    @Mohamed

Thanks for your response. Is there a specific reason to use word layouts? I've already started this with an RDLC layout. I'm familiar with basic report customizations for both.

I'm looking for help on how to directly accomplish the task I mentioned in the post. How do I create a field to total quantity and price of a certain Line Type (Resource, in this case)?

Instead of a service quote showing...
    "Daniel" 2 hrs @ $100/hr; Total $200
    "Mike" 2 hrs @ $50/hr; Total $100

    I want it to show...
    Labor 4 hrs; Total $300

I don't believe so. You could do the following, while it doesn't require as much development, it still requires adding 1 simple filter to the report layout. You could change your process of entering time on the service order lines. Instead of invoicing each individual resource line, you would consume it i.e. instead of having a value in the quantity to invoice field, you would have a value in the quantity to consume field. Then you would have 1 generic resource line added that would be invoiced. Then on your report add a filter to not show any lines where the quantity to invoice is zero. This way the report only shows the generic resource line.

Hi, if you don't want to customize it, you can try the function in Report Builder. Personally, I think it is much more complicated than AL and cannot be debugged.
Report Builder functions - Sum function in a paginated report (Report Builder)

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
