Hi Community,
I am facing an issue with a few client websites where valid pages are getting stuck in the "Discovered – currently not indexed" status in Bing Webmaster Tools.
We have already checked:
The robots.txt file is allowing access.
The pages are included in the XML Sitemap.
Content is unique and not thin.
Is there a recent update to the Bing crawling algorithm regarding crawl budget? Has anyone else noticed a slowdown in indexing for new pages recently?
Any insights or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.
thanks
This is actually a very common issue right now. "Discovered - currently not indexed" usually means the search engine knows your page exists but doesn't see it as a high priority to crawl yet.
Here are 3 quick fixes that usually work:
Internal Linking: Make sure these pages are linked from your high-traffic pages (like the Homepage or popular blog posts). Orphan pages rarely get indexed.
Content Depth: If the content is thin or generic, bots might skip it. Try adding more unique data or FAQs to the page.
Force Crawl: Instead of just waiting, use the URL Inspection tool to request manual indexing again after making changes.
If you are still stuck, it might be a deeper technical issue (like crawl budget waste). We actually solved this specific problem for a client recently.
