Cannot find Extender or Dexterity in the Tools menu

I am new to GP and would like to customize it. Our implementation vendor installed Extender and Dexterity on the server, but I do not see it in my menus inside of the Desktop Client.

What am I missing? Does something need to be installed locally on my computer?

Thanks

For Extender you definitely need it installed on your local client. I don't have enough experience with Dexterity to confidently answer your question but I would guess it is either GP security or it needs to installed on the client.

    Hi Rod

Extender is an ISV product which can be purchased from eOne (http://www.eonesolutions.com/).

Dexterity can be installed from the Tools folder on the DVD image.

You can go through the QuickStart manual which is installed with Dexterity, but you just missed out on a 5 day Dexterity training class that I instructed in the week before GPUG Summit.

Thanks. Which is better? To use DEX or to use the Visual Studio SDK for Dynamics GP? Or perhaps they have different purposes?

    Hi Rod

I have a preference to Dexterity, but either can work and it depends on what languages you are more comfortable with.

Dexterity does have a limitation that it cannot create an alternate version of a window that is not in Dynamics.dic.

When Modifier can create a modified window from any dictionary which can then be used with Visual Studio Tools.
