Picklist in CRM and var char in .net

Hi,

In our CRM,

For example we have a STATE field which is a picklist with values Atlanta, California, Texas ......  Now, there is a .net application which consumes our CRM data where the COUNTRY field type is 2 varchar.

I am wondering will it be a problem while consuming the data since my crm picklist values are like Atlanta, California....and .net application is having only 2 varchar.

Please advise.

Thanks

You'll probably need to convert the long names to their 2 character abbreviations. You could re-label the options in CRM or have some sort of mapping list in your applications to covert before being stored in the smaller field.
