Assigning Multiple Dimension Values to a Single Dimension in a Purchase Order (Business Central)

Hello Community,

One of my clients has a scenario where they would like to assign the same dimension with multiple dimension values to a single purchase order. For example, for Purchase Order 1001, the "Project" dimension is assigned with both "Project 1" and "Project 2" as values. They want to mark both values under the same dimension for a single transaction.

Is this possible in Business Central, and if so, could someone guide me on how to configure this?

Looking forward to your insights and recommendations!

Best regards,
Prem Kumar S.

    Hello,

You can only add the same dimension once.

Why not split the purchase line into two using 'Project 1' and 'Project 2'. This way, you can have the project cost as well.

    Hi
As indicated above, you could split the line and record a different dimension value on each line.

dimension could be posted on header and line level. Each line could has its own dimension value posting. The requirements from the post seem general and experts could advise more specifically if more detailed info could be provided.

You can create two Dimensions, say Project A, Project B, with the same Dimension Values, Project 1, Project 2....... This way you can select multiple times. And don't customize.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

In Business Central, you can't assign multiple dimension values to the same dimension on a single line. Instead, you can assign different dimension values to separate lines within the same purchase order. To assign multiple dimension values to a single purchase order in Business Central, start by defining your dimension (e.g., “Project”) and its values (e.g., “Project 1” and “Project 2”) in the Dimensions setup. Next, create a new purchase order and add the necessary lines. On each line of the purchase order, assign a different dimension value, such as “Project 1” for Line 1 and “Project 2” for Line 2.
