How to disable multi-entity lookup

Out of the box on appointments, there are three fields that have multi-entity look ups (Required, Optional and Regarding).  I am trying to make it such that a user can only select a Contact for the Required field and an Account for the Regarding field.  Does anyone have thoughts or a solution, without going into custom code and that would work on mobile?
