How does javaScript affect the auto save feature?

Hi, I've noticed that when we have a field that's being populated via javaScript, the auto save isn't always working. For instance, if we leave the form, the fields involved the javaScript calculation don't save. I know I'm being a bit vague, but hopefully others have experienced what's going on.

Is there any good documentation around this? Right now, it's been hard to understand exactly when and why it's happening. Having a better understanding of when we cannot just leave a form without auto save kicking in would be great.

On this note, is it possible to write javaScript or a plugin that will automatically save a form whenever the user leaves that form?

when you will navigate from any entity form then save and close will trigger automatically and you jScript will trigger registered on Save event.

Can you explain more clearly about your problem?

    Hi ,

I did some analysis on this , which might helps you.

    1. Auto Save feature works only on update form.

    2. Auto Save feature does not work on  create form.

    3. Whenever you set any value of the field using  Javascript or manually  or business rules you can see in the right corner below save icon with text "Unsaved Changes", once 30 sec /default time over form will automatically save.

    4. Whenever you navigate to another form , if you change any fields value in the form. You can not see the popup to say that "Do you want to leave /Stay" , which means  form always save automatically if any changes you did in the form.

This is all about auto save , I hope you this will helps you.

The plugin only works at the server side so anything to do with client side is almost all the time done using JavaScript.

When you say the auto save firing for some fields and not for others could provide a bit more detail on that. Perhaps you could do a bit more test on see the pattern

Is it only ignoring if you change field that is hidden  or is it when you set a value to a field that's in header or footer or business process flow. Is when the field is read only? Is it on a field that has a Business Rule bound.
