    Hello,

You could use security filter permissions to create a permission set with filtered sales orders with a released status.
After creating that certain permission set, add that to the users who will need to be able to reopen sales orders with status released.
You can read more about the security filter functionality at the links below.

    Hi,

There is no standard functionality available for this requirement. you can do below small customization, and it will work for you.

    Solution:
Create new column "Allow reopen SO" in "User Setup" page.
When user click on SO> "ReOpen", give error message if allow reopen is not flagged.

    Result:
Only user with "Allow reopen" can reopen sales order, other people can't reopen SO

    Hello,

In Business Central, there's no standard setting to restrict reopening Released Sales Orders, but you can control this using permissions or a simple AL extension.

You can create a custom permission set that allows only specific users to modify the Sales Header table, though standard permissions don't support filtering by status. For better control, a small AL extension can block the reopening action based on user ID or role.

    Hope this will help you!

    Regards,
    Mansi Soni

    Hello,

You have to write custom code for this, because Business Central doesn't have a built-in, specific permission for just “reopening,” so this method limits general editing capabilities unless further customization is added.

You can try this below code:

To restrict reopening Released Sales Orders:

    1. Permission Setup:

      • Create a custom permission set without "Modify" access to Released Sales Orders (Table 36).

      • Assign it to restricted users.

    2. Approach for Allowed Users:

      • Keep SUPER or Sales Manager roles for authorized users.

Optional: Use Event Subscriber (e.g., OnBeforeReopenSalesDoc) to add extra validation.

If this helps, mark as verified! 🚀

    Dear Guy

I have added 2 permissions, namely: MKI-Reopen-SO & MKI-Released-SO, but when clicking “Send Approval Request” the following error appears

    My Recommendation
    1. Security filter if that works. All in your control. Apply it and test it.
    2. Customization. Adding code will do with some additional validations and custom error messages but developer dependent.
    3. Altogether a new roles and permission sets.
