Future of Dynamics GP Certification?

I'm researching the current requirements for Dynamics GP "certification", as I'm looking to take the latest GP exams to update my certification and meet the current MPN partner certification requirements.

While reviewing the Microsoft Dynamics Certification requirements page here:

www.microsoft.com/.../dynamics-certification.aspx

I see the note that "Microsoft plans to retire all MCTS certifications for Microsoft Dynamics products by December 31, 2014."  The page appears to be old (which seems to always be the case), as it lists GP 2010 instead of GP 2013.

Does anyone know what this means?  Will the MCTS name just be changed to something else with similar requirements? Or will Dynamics GP "certification" be eliminated?

The MPN ERP competency page lists GP 2013 and SQL 2012 exams:

mspartner.microsoft.com/.../enterprise-resource-planning-competency.aspx

Does anyone have authoritative information about the future of GP certification?

    Hi Steve,

I would reach out to your SAM or the Partner Learning Center as they would have the most up to date information on something like this.

From the Microsoft Dynamics Certification list web page, some certifications are mentioned as Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and some are mentioned as Microsoft Specialist. I think all are same. Don't conflict with the name.

Please have a look on the below link to find latest certification for Dynamics GP.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Installation & Configuration

    Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Financials

    Hope this helps!!!

Of course my information is not authoritative, but it does look like Microsoft is retiring MCTS credentials certifications, and not only for Dynamics. The exams falling under the "retired" category are all related to GP 2010, as you can see by going to the link, so I think you have nothing to worry about, and as a matter of fact, I'm planning to take MB3-700 at the beginning of the next year.

We just heard back from our Microsoft contact regarding our questions about the GP exams and certification.

We were told that there are "changes coming to the GP competency" and that we should hold off on taking any additional GP exams for the time being until they can provide us with more info.

When I get more info I'll post an update.

    Steve,

First, congratulations on your new MVP status! Yay!

Next, I think I've taken every GP exam known to man (except manufacturing)!  But I do have the SureStep exam under my belt :).

Do you think they are creating a new series of exams for us to take? I know you haven't received a lot of real answers from Microsoft. But if you were to speculate, what do you think?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi Leslie,

We have since discovered that Prometric is no longer allowing users to schedule and pay for a Microsoft Dynamics GP exam.  If you attempt to schedule an exam, when you get to the payment page, it will not accept a credit card payment.

It says that "a voucher or an internal promotion for 100% of the payment" is required.  So we can't even take an exam if we wanted to, and after a week, we still don't have an update.

We're baffled at this point, and if we are seeing it, I'm surprised that there aren't dozens of people inquiring about what is going on. (there may be, I just haven't heard anything)

Given how the number of training courses and exams have been reduced over the last several years, and now this lockdown of the Prometric exams, it seems like the entire training and certification process might be overhauled completely.

I can't begin to speculate on what the new certification regime might be.  No certifications?  Only partners?  All online training and certification?  Exams in Greek?  Place your bets!

    Steve,

I will take all online training and certification for 200 please! :-)

Who is the person you are discussing this with Steve?

    Hi Jonathan,

I'm coordinating with a GP partner (Knaster Technology Group), who is working with Becky Gilbertson at Microsoft.

I posted this question before I learned of Knaster's communication with Becky, so I'm now just going to wait until I receive an update from either of them.
