If we have no Server, single computer, can we still install Management Reporter, and have it function correctly on a single computer?

No, MR 2012 requires domain credentials to run its services. You could always put W2012 R2 onto your workstation and create a domain. That would be the only way. Here is a link to the MR requirements.
