Mass Calculate Rollup Jobs stuck on "Waiting for timer"

We've had CRM Online running for about a year now, and we've taken advantage of the updates so we're now running on 2016 Update ((8.1.0.369) (DB 8.1.0.367))

I noticed that we had an issue with some of our rollup fields updating incorrectly. The rollup field date says that it was last updated within the last 24 hours, but (it's a simple count of child entities) it's not correct. Pushing the refresh icon updates the record to the correct number.

I've verified that the entity it should have been counting (as there was only one in this instance) is older than 24 hours (it's 6 weeks old). I went to check that the Rollup jobs were working properly, and saw that so many of them are in a state of "Waiting on timer". Some of them have a "Started on"date of 18/02/2015!

Is this normal behaviour?

    Hi Matthew,

This is normal behaviour for a rollup field.

Even though your rollup field has been updated within the last 24 hours it could still hold an inaccurate value as the amount of child entities can change since the field was last updated. When you press the refresh button it forces a recalculation so that you get the correct value.

Rollup fields are automatically updated during a scheduled asynchronous system job. This system job occurs roughly 12 hours after the field is created or updated by default. If you want to see the exact count of child entities without having to click the refresh button or waiting for the system job to complete you can create a plugin which updates the count.

I hope this post helps you out.

This is not normal behaviour for a rollup field.

Rollup fields are normally recalculated every hour.

Only the initial calculation takes place about 12 hours after you create or edit the field.

Can you reschedule any of the stalled jobs?

Can you edit the field definition to force the mass recalculate job to run and hopefully restart the whole process? (For example add something to the condition that is always true such as Account: Name contains data, save and publish, then remove and re-publish).

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for replying (and actually reading the question). We went round the houses with CRM Support with this one, they tried what you suggested, but in the end we ended up reducing the number of roll-up fields we had (and wrote some API functionality) and once we did that, the rest of the roll-up fields became accurate again.

    Regards,

    Matthew

i want to create automatically calculate field without create plugin, is there any way to create this field that "modify recurrence" is available on it.

please help me and if this is impossible, tell me step by step how to create simple plugin that update automatically "mass calculate rollup Jobs"
