CRM online Vs CRM on premise

Dear all,

I am actually evaluating the possibility to move to CRM online but I am actually trying to get information about cost comparison with an onsite solution.

Today, I have for instance an MSDN annual fee that I pay 800 euro .
I have a server running Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2 on which CRM 2011 is is installed.

I have seen that the price for Online Solution is about 40euro / user /month
If I convert this for year it will be around 480 euro /user /year

Actually 3 users can connect to CRm on site. So total cost for CRM online would be 480*3users =1440 euros

Sounds for me more expensive that having an MSDN anuaall fee and install it on Site

What do you think ?

Thnaks for your advise
regards

serge

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

Actually i have install CRM on site myselve and take care of the maintenance. But of course what came to my mind shortly was the kind of backup recovery solution I ewould need in case of emergency. Today I am running those Virtually but this is an other reason that could be a decision as well. Sure behind cost cover by maintenance is something hard to estimate but it tales your time for doing something else.

    Hmm let see then.

Next is a matter is what CRm online offer compare to on premise solution because I have some customized entities and reports and I do not want to loose them.

By the way I have seen that you can try it for 30 days. Can I upload my actual CRM data online and try to work with then online for a while ?

Is tehre a migration tool  ?

    regards

    serge

Re: CRM online Vs CRM on premise

    Serge,

The reason why many companies opt for CRM Online is because most of the time, when you evaluate the costs involved with getting new servers, the price you pay to get them installed and configured plus the price for support, the out of the pocket expense can be too big to move on. With CRM Online, you don't have to pay to set it up, you don't have to purchase any new hardware or pay any money for support. Plus, all updates and new features introduced to CRM 2011 by Microsoft are always available to CRM Online first.

When you add the costs associated with new equipment, expert consultation and services, headaches, licenses for software, cost of support that you pay for with CRM OnPrem, compared to the cost of a small monthly payment for all of those things combined, CRM Online is the best choice. And I haven't even mentioned what it will cost you when you need to upgrade your servers in the next few years!

I know it sounds like it is cheaper, but coming from a lot of OnPrem experience and now working almost exclusively Online for the last year, I can honestly tell you that Online is the best path for small implementations like yours.

Whichever you end up choosing is secondary to the main decision, which was selecting Microsoft Dynamics CRM as your CRM solution...that was the best decision!

    Good Luck!
