Clear Form cache

Hi,

I created a new form for contacts and changed the form oder to set this new form on the top. I added some new fields to this form. One of the fields should be updated by a workflow, but if I open the form inside the workflow editor I don't get the new form but the 'old' standard contact form (it's the same when using bulk edit).

I know there's a form cache that can be cleared somehow - can someone tell me how I can clear the form cache?

Thanks

Kathrin

    RE: Clear Form cache

    Hi Kathrin,

are you using CRM 2015 online or the on-premise version?

In case it is the on-premise and you are in a development environment you can perform an iisreset on the server (yeah I know...).

If you want to do it less dramatically, you can force your page to reload using CTRL-F5 (a couple of times - CTRL F5 forces IE to do a reload of the page (instead of falling back on it's cache)

    Hope this helps...

    Bas

btw. You did publish the changed page?

    RE: Clear Form cache

I have managed to re-create the issue you're having, in 2015 Online, and then overcome it.

Note: Ctrl-F5 by itself did not resolve it.

    Steps taken:

    1. Made a new form & saved changes.

    2. Changed the form order so the new form is the default one shown

    Set-new-form.PNG

    3. Clicked on 'Activate' for the new form to make it selectable

    4. Then Publish All Customizations

    5. <Ctrl F5> to refresh

    6.  Go into any record of they type you're updating in your workflow (I used Account for my test) and select the New form as the view to see

    7. Then started to create a new workflow / update an existing workflow - e.g. update a field on the new form.

Note:  Without the critical Step 6 the workflow editor still showed the original default form for the entity.

    *  According to Microsoft the default form is supposed to be shown.  technet.microsoft.com/.../dn531057.aspx

    *  But that seems to be overridden by the 'personal selection of the moment / last form used' for a user which is remembered for each user.

You can use this (what appears to me to be an undocumented feature) to your advantage.  i.e. skip step 2. altogether.  If you have an existing form that you can select at the entity level then all you have to do is select it for a record and then go to your workflow and that is the view you'll see for population purposes.

    RE: Clear Form cache

The Problem was I HAD opened a record with the newly created form before entering the workflow Editor. But the effect of Strg-F5 is a Little bit in delay sometimes - now I got the new form.

    Wow - how frustrating!

Thanks for verifying my answer anyway.

I think it's quite a cool feature but it is a trick for young players.... as I don't think it's necessarily all that intuitive.
