Qualify button on the command bar not working Dynamics 365 [SOLVED]

No customisations were made to the Qualify button, just field and form customisations to the Lead entity. How do I go about troubleshooting this?

PS: All other buttons work just fine on the command bar and the Qualify button works if I exit the lead form and click it from the list view.

Solution:

  • The solution to this in previous version (older than 9.0) was to ensure that the "Company" field was on the form. This fixed the problem.

The issue resurfaced recently (23 April 2018) and I found that the solution to it is a simple update by the support team to your DB version. So if you go to the About Section of your instance (top right click the settings drop-down menu and you will see it) you will find the versions like this:

A) The versions are similar and the button works in this case.

Microsoft Dynamics 365
Version 1612 (9.0.2.54) (DB 9.0.2.53) online

B) The versions are different and the button doesn't work in this case (or other mismatch cases)

Microsoft Dynamics 365
Version 1612 (9.0.2.54) (DB 9.0.1.733) online

So to solve, check your versions, raise a ticket and the update will fix your issue (it could also fix other issues if you have any).

Further update:

Some visitors to this post claim that the version updates may not be the issue. While this maybe true in some instances, it has been found that the regular updates rolled out by Microsoft (or their partners) do cause issues similar to this. So checking the version is always one possibility.

This is also true for other issues that may arise. In other words, if you see a problem that is very strange, chances are it is caused by the regular updates being rolled out to the system. Bugs exist in the system and are still persisting in Version 9.0.

Any customization has been done in the (Form) command bar buttons of Lead?

No, No customisations done on any of the buttons.

    Thanks.

When the Lead form is in edit mode (required fields are already populated during creation) the qualify button should show up.

I never come across this type of behaviour before. I am not sure. But, I can suggest a few.

If there is a Permission (Security Role for the user) issue, the button behaviour should be same for the User in both List as well as Form.

Please check: In the list, select a record and check Qualify Button shows up as well as in the form for the same record.

Create a new record with only Topic and Last Name. After saving the form, check whether Qualify button works or not.

Please check for this behaviour in different browsers, as edge does not work properly

    Hi Saif,

I think it works but respond slow. As in if you click on it and wait, lead is actually qualified.

    Test it.

    Hi Gopalan,

    Thank you for that.

The button shows up in both the list and the lead form.

Qualify button doesn't work when creating a lead with just topic and last name.

    Tried different browsers same issue.

If it helps, i had an error a few times previously when clicking the button saying "Unexpected error". And now nothing happens when I click it.

It can still be used in the list view but such a pain to explain this to everyone!

I clicked it a few times and just then I clicked and waited, I have been waiting for 10 minutes. Nothing!

I know what you mean though, there is this once I clicked it and left the page, I came back and clicked on "Add to Marketing list" and it somehow decided to create an opportunity instead!

So no solution so far, still trying to figure it out! :-/

I think you should raise a ticket to Microsoft, as it works for me.

It is looking like something with the form customisation, other form views seem to do the conversion, but not the main lead form! So I am looking into that now

I couldn't figure out why the qualify button won't work just on the main lead form and not other forms. So what I did was remove the main lead form and keep the others, now it qualifies normally. Probably not the best solution, but creating a new form and deleting the old one did the job for me. Maybe others can try to clone the form instead of delete it. But no clue as to why the button wouldn't work just with that form.

    Future suggestions might help others.

Same thing is happening for me. Dynamics 365, Leads, no development, only configuration on form and Lead to Opty Sales Process. The Qualify button was working a day ago, then stopped working, of course, when I was demoing to client. And, now I can't figure out why. The only thing I did was add some Dup Detection Rules. I turned them off and on, but if that is the issue, there's a big problem. :)

I'm going to do the above, so thanks for posting, but I'm wondering what the cause is.
