Fields being auto populated on create

When I create a contact via pressing new or through qualifying a lead there are some fields that auto populate which I do not want to happen, these are fairly new fields but need to be kept. It happens in the create process when looking in the audit history and does not seem to happen via workflow,jscript or mappings(unless there is somewhere i'm not looking as I have checked them all under the contact). Where else could this be happening and I have no idea how this started happening.

    This feature is known as 'Mapping' of the fields when you qualify a lead and create a contact. In order to handle this situation, go to Customization -> Contact -> N:1 Relationship -> click on contact_originating_lead -> Mappings. In the Mapping list, you'll find all the attributes which are marked to populate the fields in contact from prospect.

    If possible, could you please share the fields which are populating?

    As I said, I have already checked the mappings, the fields that are being populated are not in there. These fields are custom fields that do not come out of the box and we have created ourselves, it didn't happen for the first few months but now all of a sudden do.

    What kind of fields are they?  Picklists may have a default value that may populate.  Lookups may also populate automatically depending on how to record is created.  For example, if I have two lookups to the Account on the Contact record, and I create the Contact from the Account, both lookups will populate with the Account.  If it is a text or date field, I have not seen those ever populate automatically.
