"Unknown Error" when printing receipts

RMS Dynamics 2.0

Epson TM-T88IVP

Windows XP

We have a multi store setup, one of the stores cannot print receipts. When we try we get 'Unknown Error". The error does not stop the printing of X/Z reads, just receipts

tried recreating the receipt (no luck), made sure that OPOS has the latest drivers (it does and health checks wonderfully(

I have copied a database from another store (I am getting to the desperate stage) pointed the POS to that, and the receipt came out. Put it back to the proper store database, and the unknown error returned.

Does anyone have any idea;

a) what might be causing this

b) How it might get fixed

I am running out of hair to pull out......

Cheers

I'm not sure if this is gonna help or not, but just give it a try

Execute the following statement on both database and look for any difference in any field related to printer or receipt: -

    select * from register

Maybe you can reload your receipt template. Maybe it is corrupted.

Sorry for the delay, the shop was closed yesterday. Tried replacing the receipt template, but no luck

Also check that the entries were the same when 'Select * from register"....they were :(

    Any more advice greatly received

    Thanks

When trouble shooting any POS errors, I recommend that you disable all register hardware including receipt, cash drawer, line display etc.  Attempt a transaction and see if you get the error.  If you do, you need to look at the database (perhaps the receipt format or the actual batch - have you tried closing the batch (Z Report)?)

Next, turn on one device at a time, restarting POS between each change to narrow down the problem.  I've seen unknown error related to line display but I'm not sure if you're using one or not.

    Good luck!
