Is there a correct way to remove the commissions history from SOP10101 or do I just go to SQL and delete it?

I have over 2 million records in SOP10101 and I would like to remove some of them.  Is there a menu item in GP that will allow me to do this, or do I just delete the rows from the SQL database? 

I do not use commissions, but for the last xxx years some sales people have had a commission % on there card resulting in my bogus records.
