Multiple item category codes on an item

Hey,

Is it possible to have more than 1 item category code on an item or will this require customization?

Example.

We have some items that are used by multiple departments and we wanted to label an item with Department 1 & 2 so that when an inventory report is run with filtering on item category code each department could see there the item when selecting their department in item cat code

Thanks!

    hi,

As per my suggestion. use Product Group code field for mapping the requirement. If you use this, then there is no need of customization in system.

Hi, I think it is also a bit troublesome to customize. I recommend you to use Dimensions, such as creating Dimension for category 1 and category 2.

    Hope this helps as well.

    Thanks.

You can not have several independent item categories. But you can build a parent/ child relationship between them.

If that is not sufficient you should look at the attribute functionality to see if you can use that. It is very flexible.
