Suggested Answer

Suggestion: Allow disabling or hiding predefined Views in Item List

Hello,

I would like to highlight a UX issue related to the Item List (31, List) page in Business Central. In the dropdown list of views, several predefined system Views appear by default:

  • Blocked Items

  • Item Quantities

  • Items By Location

  • Items Due For Count

  • Items Overdue For Count

  • Negative Quantity Items

These Views:

  • are not translated in localized versions,

  • are not documented for end users,

  • often do not match the company’s actual business processes,

  • cannot be disabled or hidden through the UI,

  • and disrupt the consistency of the interface, especially when the rest of the product is fully localized.

This is just one example. In localized versions of Business Central, there are multiple places where untranslated (and sometimes unnecessary) interface elements appear. While each individual case may seem minor, together they affect the overall user experience and create confusion for operators working entirely in a localized environment.

Proposal

It would be helpful to:

  1. Provide a configuration option to disable or hide predefined Views, without requiring an AL extension.

  2. Or hide these Views by default when they are not relevant for a specific localization or industry.

  3. Or ensure proper translation and documentation, so they appear as an intentional part of the product.

At the moment, the only way to remove these Views is to create a page extension and hide them manually, which feels excessive for such a simple need.

Thank you for considering this improvement. Even small UX refinements can make a noticeable difference for users working in localized environments.

Thank you for sharing this valuable feedback. The best way to ensure your suggestion is considered by the Business Central product team is to submit it through the official Dynamics 365 Business Central Ideas portal:

This platform is monitored by Microsoft, and ideas posted there can be voted on by the community and reviewed for inclusion in future releases. Your proposal to improve UX consistency and localization would be a great candidate for submission.

    Hello,

The Item List (Page 31) shows several hard-coded system Views that are not translated, not documented, can’t be disabled via UI, and often don’t match real business processes, which hurts UX in localized environments. While each case is small, together they create inconsistency and confusion for users working fully in local languages. Today, the only way to remove them is a page extension, which is excessive for a UX issue. A better approach would be allowing configuration to hide system Views, hiding them by default when not relevant, or at least properly translating and documenting them so they feel intentional.
