Warehouse BIN Types

Does anyone know how to use Bin Types or a workaround to use Bin Types without using Directed Put-away and pick? Basically, someone is trying to prevent users from being able to pick from specific Bins when picking for production. We think we may be able to accomplish this through Bin Types, but it seems that BC might not allow this. Any suggestions?

Hi, It seems that only customization can achieve this.

Hopefully, other experts can give you better advice.

    Thanks.

You can set "Bin Mandatory " in Location card and use bin content without Directed Put-Away . You have to do customization to achieve the same.

Bin Types are only applicable for Directed Put-away.

    Hello ,

Bin Types are not enforced without Directed Put-away and Pick. If DPP is off, Business Central lets users pick from any bin, regardless of Bin Type—this is by design. The only standard way to block picking from specific bins is to enable Directed Put-away and Pick. Without it, your options are limited to soft controls (bin ranking, user training) or custom AL validation to block posting from restricted bins. There’s no supported no-code workaround.
