Item Journals, Reclassification and Transfer Orders - Dimensions

Hi,

Can you please let me know if there is a way of when you are using Item Journals, Reclassifications or even Transfer Orders, if there is a way of pushing automatically the dimensions?

Example, if i am doing an Item Reclassification from one warehouse to another, when i put the field applies to entry, the dimensions for that entry are not pushed to the journal. The same happens on the Item Journal or even on the Transfer Order (with Get Bin Contents).

It seems almost that if you are doing a reclassification and adjusting the stock to another location, the dimensions will be out of sync.

There is a standard way of pushing the dimensions to those documents?
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,
Business Central copies dimensions automatically if default dimensions are set on the Location Card.
These apply to Item Journals, Reclassification Journals, and Transfer Orders.
The To Location (last entered) determines which dimension is used.
Applies-to Entry doesn’t copy dimensions automatically, customization is required in that case

Item Journals, Reclassification and Transfer Orders - Dimensions
    Hi,
BC doesn’t auto-copy dimensions from the Applies-to Entry (or the source ILE) into Item Journals, Reclass Journals, or Transfer Orders. What you’re seeing is standard. Dimensions come from default dimensions + priorities (Item, Location, Variant, Bin), not from the specific ledger entry you pick—so things can drift if your defaults don’t match the source.

Fix it with configuration (no code)
    1. Set Default Dimensions on Items/Locations (and Variants/Bins if used).
    2. Use Value Posting = Same Code or Code Mandatory to enforce consistency.
    3. Set Default Dimension Priorities so BC knows which source “wins”.
    4. For Transfers, remember: the dimension usually follows the last location field you validate (common gotcha).
    5. If you need to correct posted inventory dimensions, use the Item Reclassification Journal.
This won’t “pull from the ILE,” but it makes the system consistent and prevents drift.
