Mandatory fields for Account when qualifying a lead

Hi everyone,

When qualifying a lead, CRM will automatically generate a new account if the account didn't exist yet.

The problem with this is that the account form has several mandatory fields. But when you qualify the lead, it transforms the lead to an opportunity. The mandatory fields for the account are forgotten.

Does anyone have an idea how I can make sure that my colleague fill in the mandatory fields for accounts as well?
Just asking doesn't seem to be enough (they have a lot to do off course), so they need a reminder or notification.

Or can CRM give a pop-up when creating a new account, but if it doesn't have all information?

Thank you for your advise,

Anneke

    Hi Anneke,

    Check this link out. organonconsulting.com.au/.../mapping-your-microsoft-dynamics-crm-lead-fields-to-account-and-contact-fields

You will have to add the mandatory fields on the Lead Entity as well to map them.

    Hi Anneke,

You can have the mandatory field of account capture on lead form itself. You can then modify the the mapping of lead to account relationship (setting->customization->account->N:1 realationship->account_originating_lead->Mapping) thus all the information captured on lead form will flow to the account entity as well.

    Thanks,

    Prateek

    Hi,

You can create a wait workflow to send a reminder mail after 1 or 2 mins (as per your requirement) on Account Creation if the mandatory fields on Account does not contain data.

    Thanks!

    HI Thomas

Nice to know that's possible, but in our case, it's not very practical. we don't know that info yet when we create the lead.

You might still put the fields on the lead, but you might do it slightly differently:

    - Make them business recommended (to "emphasize" them a little bit.. you'll still be able to create a lead without providing any values for those fields)

    - Update lead->account mapping to include those fields into the mapping

    - Create a real-time workflow to display an error message if somebody tries to qualify a lead with those fields still empty

Would not be as nice as displaying a popup, but should still serve the purpose

    Hi Anneke,

Pop ups can be set up but they tend to be annoying and then people become indifferent to them. They become "that silly box I don't read and need to close before I can do my actual job!".

Can I suggest you use the business process flow to bring to the top of the screen the fields that are important for when the account is already created? You'd edit the Lead to Opportunity process to get here and have a stage that is for the Account entity.

Using business rules you could even go a step further and turn some fields into business required IF a certain phase of the business process flow is reached.

    Good luck :)

Like other users in this thread have suggested. You could have a Business rule or JavaScript to make those account fields mandatory if a user has entered any data into the Company field.

    Hi Nuno,

Thank you for your advise. I'll try to do that. :)
