Catch Weight Functionality

Hi

We have a scenario where the Sale Order is created of quantity = 100 and due transit losses the actual quantity that is delivered and billed to customer is quantity = 90.  The quantity that is not delivered and billed due to In-transit loss should be posted as loss. i.e., the cost of 10 quantity of items.

To cater the scenario, we are using the CW functionality of D365 F&O. During the time of picking the quantity, I have updated the actual quantity that is less then CW quantity, but I am unable see where the Catch weight loss is being posted.

Setup

Inventory UOM = ea

CW UOM = cwe

Nominal Value = 1.0000

Minimum Value = 0.6

Maximum Value = 20

Sale Order

Quantity = 2000

Picking

CW Quantity = 2000

Picked Quantity = 1900

    RE: Catch Weight Functionality

You shipped 100 to the customer and only 90 arrived at the customer address, shouldn't you post a return of 10 items as scrapped, to post  to the ledger  loss from scrapping ?

In the scenario, the 10 items that were not shipped to Customer is the In-transit Loss, such as evaporation, shrinkage. As the invoice to customer is of only 90 items.

Is there any way I can achieve this through Catch weight functionality?

If you shipped only 90 you can only invoice 90. Can't you make an inventory adjust of lost quantity?

In this case the SO will also not be closed. And we will not be able to track the loss against SO.

Please provide configuration for catch weight functionality, so that if there is difference in CWE weight and Quantity the Catch weight loss is booked automatically at the time of Packing Slip.

I don't think you can get that.

I would create a return order linked to SO and dispose products on return.

When you post packing slip of 100 products, you are notifying D365 that 100 item were shipped in a truck. If quantity is damaged during transportation, you post a return with scrapping to deduct quantity that was lost in transit, since customer will not pay for total shipped quantity.

The customer would be credited. Loss from scrapping is posted to the ledger when posting return

I agree with Nuno. You should post a return of the damaged items to credit the customer, then bill them for what was delivered.

Catch weight is meant for situations where you have near-uniform items, particularly in the case of food products.
