Inventory Valuation-WIP

Posted on by 4

Dear Expert,

I ran the Inventory Valuation - WIP report.

The report appear all the related production order which the status is finished.

I notice that there is a column with Cost Posted to G/L, it appear a lot row had zero, and few row have figure in it.

Why highlighted in yellow ones are like this although production order are posted as finished ?

I would like to understand more.

Thank you so much in advance for your advice.

Regards,

Pyone

Thank you Very much

Hello! I never saw a response to the second set of questions.

I have the same scenario where the Production Order is finished, Adjust Cost - Item Entries was run and yet there is still an amount sitting in Cost Posted to G/L. Why would that happen?

Is there an order of operations that could have caused this?

How do I fix it so it is removed from the Inventory Valuation - WIP report and adjusted on the G/L?

    Thank you so much!

    Did you run Adjust Cost?

    Hi All,

How about this case? Capacity is sitting in WIP after the status of production order is changed to Finished. I want it to be zero in report.

How do I reclass to make WIP zero for capacity and report?

    Please advise.

Also, make sure that you are running Adjust Cost - Item Entries at least monthly before you start your reconciliation process. You may see that the costs move out of WIP through to inventory and if the inventory is sold through to cost of sales.

    Sweety,

You have an important piece when reconciling Inventory to G/L. If you are a manufacturer, your Output is sitting in WIP and sits there until you change the Status of the Released Production Order to Finished. Therefore, your Inventory has these expected entries Output pending and you have to reconcile them.

WIP is cleared out after you complete entering all Output and Consumption entries and change the Released Production Order Status = FINISHED.

I just finished reconciling a 350K variance and what was the culprit was all the WIP Output received but the Prod. Order not Finished. They were not reconciling all Inventory and WIP.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

It's because the system doesn't know the full value of the output until the production order is finished.

In Item ledger entry, Consumption is posted to GL and Output is still in expected cost.

I would like to know why output is not posted to Actual cost although production order is finished .

    Sweety
