Importing data into Dynamics

Hi All,

While we were preparing to move onto the CRM we were continuing to build up a list of contacts that we wanted to add into the CRM. I am now wondering what the easiest method of getting these contacts into the CRM may be.

At present we have some emails stored on the network as .msg files.
Although it is possible to drag emails back into a mailbox. Am I correct in saying that it will not be able to reproduce the tracking information? I guess it queries exchange when defining this information and if the email was removed from the original mailbox, it is unlikely to be able to recover this information.

The easiest way to import contacts is using the out of the box import functionality

There are templates which can be found inside CRM

these blogs will help importing data

Regarding the emails. CRM doesn't have any email capabilities, it puts all this work to outlook or an email router.

when an email is received, CRM creates a copy and a new email record. The email and CRM email record are not linked (e.g. you can delete the email in outlook and it will still exist in CRM)

So I'm not sure how you to get all those emails in CRM
