planning optimization - stock reservation

Suppose we have stock on hand quantity that is not sufficient to meet all open sales orders (with different priorities).
Question:
When we run the planning optimization process, does the system do reservation or marking of stock to the sales lines with higher priorities? If not, what does the system do to allocate the on hand stock to open sales lines ?

I have the same question (0)

Unfortunately, I cannot give a more exhaustive answer however by using the new MRP engine you can unleash the new Priority- based-planning technique:

    learn.microsoft.com/.../priority-based-planning .

This new logic overwrites the priority based on requirement date and you can actually prioritize your demand or manually on your orders or based on calculations that are explained in the article.

While it's correct that priority-based planning will distribute inventory based on an order line priority instead of the requirement date, it's important to note that there is not automatic way to set different priorities for sales lines for the same item. You can default the priority of a sales line for item ABC as 10 vs a transfer order line as 20 (lower priority) but if you wanted to have different sales lines have different priorities you would have to do it manually or build a customization to achieve this.

Thanks Anne for the comment, is Microsoft looking at adding the priority also on Production bom lines ?

And if yes , is the current Priority field on ProdTable going to be used to mass update the prodbom lines?

    That would be really useful.

    Hi Anne.

I am testing the planning optimization priority -based MRP for this scenario:

We have several sales orders with different priorities and the available stock is not sufficient to meet the sales orders demand. I want the planning optimization priority-based to reserve quantities based on priority.

Does the priority-based demand section in the planning optimization do that? Does it do the physical reservation?

    regards

We already support priority on production BOM lines to my knowledge although the documentation hasn't been updated yet to reflect this. The field on the production order that is used is called "planning priority" but it's only on the header level and then it's passed to the BOM requirements

    This is awesome thanks.
