Setup production BOM/routing

Hi,

1. I purchase a wooden beam with dimension: (item created as a purchase item) (=item1)

  • width = 45 mm
  • height = 150 mm
  • length = 4500 mm

2. the first operation is to cut the beam in half with dimensions as follow: (item created as a make-to-stock item with BOM and routing) (=item2)

  • width = 22 mm
  • height = 150 mm
  • length = 4500 mm

This one is very simple, I need 0,5 pcs of the purchased item to produce this item.

3. From item2 I want to produce 2 more items

item3:

  • width = 22 mm
  • height = 150 mm
  • length = 1200 mm

item4:

  • width = 22 mm
  • height = 150 mm
  • length = 900 mm

So I can get 3 pcs of item3 out of item2. (3*1200=3600) I still have 900 mm left and is exactly the size I need for item4.

How do I setup the bom's and routing in this case?  Or is there another solution for the problem I have?

Thanks already!

Kind regards,

Bert

Choose the Search for Page or Report icon, enter Routings, and then choose the related link.

    Choose the New action.

Fill in the fields as necessary. Choose a field to read a short description of the field or link to more information.

In the Type field, select Serial to calculate the production routing according to the value in the Operation No. field.
Select Parallel to calculate the operations according to the value in the Next Operation No. field.

To edit the routing, set the Status field to New or Under Development. To activate it, set the Status field to Certified.

Proceed to fill in the routing lines.

In the Operation No. field, enter the number of the first operation, for example, 10.

In the Type field, specify which kind of resource is used, for example, Work Center.

In the No. field, select the resource to be used, or type it in the field.

In the Routing Link Code field, enter a code to connect the component to a specific operation. For more information, see the "To create routing links" section.

In the Run Time and Setup Time fields, enter the process times needed to perform the operation.

    Hi Bert,

I've done some research.  This may be what you're looking for...."Production Families".  I'll provide you a link below for an overview.  Hope that helps, thanks! :)

    Hi Lewis,

    Thanks for your reply.

I've managed to create the routing link and assigned it to the BOMS.  But when I'm creating a production order for an item, and I refresh the production order, I only have 1 item to produce, the other that has the same routing link does not appear in the production order.  What can I have done wrong?

    Thank you.
