Workflows and working hours !?!

I have tried to develop different workflows for CRM 4.0 but it seems difficult when you assign a task or a meeting to a user to take into account the working hours and days of this user!
 E.g. if you define the due date of a meeting as being 2 days after a record is created, and if the record is indeed created a Thursday, then the meeting will be scheduled during the W-E!?!
How to avoid that?

    Hi Jean

    there is no easy answer to this one but it is a a piece of functionality we are working on so that weekends and back holidays are taken into account.

    The way I have seen this done in the past is to create a hidden entity and load that entity with the data from a standard calendar, you then can write a custom workflow plugin to read the data and check if the appointment that is scheduled is on a day that the business is closed.

    You can also achieve the same thing by just using the plugin with out theentity and write some business logic to check the scheduled date to see if it falls on a saturday or a sunday, but this will not take account of bank holidays, business closures or holiday days of members of staff.

    We should have our custom adin ready for Q2 next year if you cna wait that long.

    Hi Jean

    Its Neither CRM or the foundation its that the functionality has not really been written so on some deployments different people try different things to work around the issue.  Its really down to having a prepopulated calendar to work from that can work out which days are not work days.

    we did this in the workflows by doing a simple check for weekend, but also we created a sub process which would read through the company calendar, and check for bank holidays / company closures.

     obviously this relies on somebody once a year updating the calendar but its not a big issue. works a treat.

     the big picture was to automate the task creation for x working days in the future in our case.

    Would you happen to have a sample copy of the workflow or know if this issue has been updated in the CRM?

    I am not a technical person but have been getting use to the system and some basic workflows - they all work BUT they are  assigning tasks, follow-up calls, etc... on saturday and sunday.  I have updated the company calender to reflect weekends and holidays.

    Any info would be greatly appreciated.

     Can you please give me some more information how you achieved this. I am not sure how a workflow will be able to check for weekends.

    doesn't take into consideration working hours / days of users as we do not use that functionality but it could be added relatively easily i would say.

    its a bit fragmented as i had to do it quickly within work but hopefully might offer an some help.
