Warehouse Shipment won't post if Inventory Created after Sales Order Line Items are created

Posted on by 5

Description

Version: Business Central Cloud (Version: 17.0.16993.0)

In our customer's company, many times, they receive Sales Order even when they don't have sufficient inventory.

Sales Order is created and Line Items are added to the Sales Orders.

Inventory is later acquired either via purchase or assembly order.

However, in this scenario, when the inventory is acquired, the Warehouse Shipment will not post. It will fail with error below.

"Bin Code must have a value in Warehouse Shipment Line: No.=WHS-0000072, Line No=10000. It cannot be zero.

Work Around (Very Nasty): We have to make the customer delete the Warehouse Shipment, remove the Line Item and Re-enter the Line Item in the Sales Order, recreate the Sales Shipment and then post.

Any idea of how to fix this properly? Or how to open this as a bug?

    Hi

What is your location setup here. if this is bin and shipment mandatory, why don't you add bin code field at shipment level and add it manually when you know where  you inventory is located?

    Kind regards

    Jerome
