Upgrade GP8

Hi

I have to upgrade GP 8 to GP 10. Right now i have updated my GP8 sp3 to Gp8 SP5 and moved all customization in sp5 dictionary. When i run the GP10 set up it ask me :

1: Maintenance of GP 10

2: Upgate the GP 9

GP 10 and GP 9  are also install on my pc. But it is showing only option of GP10,Gp9 but not the GP8 to upgrade.

Any solution or idea?

    Wajahat,

    When You insert the GP10.0, the installation is able to find an existing instance of GP10.0 and GP9.0 so is the case, it is asking you the options that you wrote. During any upgrades, it is not advisable to have multiple instances and do an upgrade. Looking at your query, I understand you are just trying to do it on your test PC.

    I suggest you do an uninstall of your GP10 and GP9.0 and then proceed to upgrade to GP10.0. For upgrade to GP10.0 there are set of upgrade procedures to be followed that you can find in partenrsource / Customersource.

    thanks for your reply.

    Yes,I am doing testing on my pc. I uninstalled only GP10 and run the setup and got the same thing except it removed the GP 10 maintenance option. Actually setup not recognizing the GP8 instance and not giving me the option to update it on to the GP 10.

    Have you in the past changed your server name? There is a tech knowledge somewhere about this. Look it up, maybe it is the source of your issue?...maybe not! :)...you could also try re-installing GP 8? Is your ODBC pointing to the correct instance?
