CRM 2013 - Inline Lookup doesn't honour lookup view filtering

On a form we have several lookups to a single custom entity. each lookup has a different view with specific filtering in the view.

Now with the new 2013 inline (display top 10 items) doesn't honour the selected filtered view set in the properties until the user selects "Look up more records".

Why is the case?

The workaround is the new JavaScript class to add filtering to the lookup however this is not an ideal solution.

    Hi,

the OOB lookup will display 10 MRU records (Most Recently Used).

If you do not want these records to be displayed, you can disable MRU on that particular lookup control.

In the form editor, open the field properties, and check "Disable most recently used items for this field".

Otherwise, the workaround is to leverage the new PreSearch event indeed. You can still use Microsoft Connect to make suggestions for future releases.

Yes I do want the 10 MRU records but these must be filtered. I have tried using the PreSearch/addCustomFilter on a custom entity and it doesn't work. Tested the same with a System entity and all works fine.

Any ideas why this does not work for custom entities?

    Hello Guys,

I do not want to see the lastest 10 records, altough I have disabled the option on that specific field but despite changing the setting ,it does show me the recently used fields.

Apart from that ,I was using Custom filter to show only the "Account" records on the Contacts Parent customer field but this one is also not working,

Any help or code provided is really appreciated.

    thanks a lot,

    Regards

    Abhi

I am encountering same issue. Lookup view is not being applied correctly and instead is showing all records.

Is there any resolution to this? We use some lookups as Option values and have them filtered on a specific view. We do not want our users to see all lookup values available. Even when using the "Disable most recently used items for this field" option, it does not remove those values.

I am having the same issue on CRM 2013 Online RU1. Filtered lookup does not work and all records are displayed.

Unfortunately this is by design and has not been considered with the new lookup developments since CRM 2013.

I found for these types of entities that require specific views, you MUST develop JavaScript's to filter the lookup and this then also filters the standard view set on the form attribute. So you now do not need to develop different views unless you use different columns to display.

Please add this to the CRM enhancement's so hopefully in future upgrades this will be improved.

I am having the same issue - how can the "Disable most recently used items for this field" not do what its supposed to be doing - By Design?  Either that should fix the issue with the filtering by parent record or they should let us disable the most recently used.

    Hi,

I have similar issue with CRM Online V9.1. Is this still by design in latest version of Dynamics 365? Can anyone please confirm?
