Unified Interface Transition - Existing Apps in UI

Hi Experts,

We have transitioned to Unitied Interface by creating a new app covering all the capabilities of Dynamics 365 - Custom legacy app.

However, we haven't revoked access to Dynamics 365 - Custom app for the Users. We are planning to revoke access to custom app, once everyone is comfortable with the new unified app experience.

We received few emails from Microsoft on the schedule for automatic transition to unified interface.  I'm not sure what exactly it means to us, as we already have an app covering the full capability in unfied interface

It would be really helpful to understand from the experts in the community on the impact of the automatic update.

Thanks, Manoj

Hi, the Dynamics 365 - Custom app will be automatically converted to the new Unified Interface however, there will be a warning that some features may not behave as expected and you should create your own app, which you have already done. So you don't really need to do anything except restrict the access to the legacy app so as to not confuse users which you already have planned. There is a setting in your environment settings under behaviour where you can just flick a switch to hide it from anyone except admins.

    Regards

    Paul

    Hello Manoj,

You took the right approach by creating a new app.
The "Dynamics 365 - Custom app" can be rendered with the Unified Interface, but that's just a compatibility mode, and this will display a warning. Not ideal at all.

It's important to understand that you actually don't need the Auto-Transition process to fully transition to Unified Interface, you can enable the "Use Unified Interface only" setting yourself here:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/settings-behavior#settings
Once you have transitioned, as Paul said, you should indeed disable "Show legacy app to everyone, not just admin", so that your users don't see the legacy app anymore.

The Auto-Transition process that you are receiving emails about is about helping enable the "Unified Interface Only" mode for you, in an automated process.
It's important to understand that nothing will happen if you don't formally opt-in for the transition (i.e. validate a date in the portal). It will just be reschedule for a future date, until the transition becomes mandatory on December 1st 2020.
This FAQ will help you on this particular Auto-Transition process: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/model-driven-apps/faqs-transition-unified-interface
