Inactive GL Account

Good day,

Why would a transaction with an inactive GL account be able to post to the GL? AP put through an entry and posted but the account is inactive, so it did not post through to the GL is this normal.

This is the first instance of this I have seen, I am also not seeing any options that would allow this.

    Hello Rosemary,

    I was able to test this out briefly, and inactivating an account will stop the posting at the GL level only.  You can still use an inactivated account at the Sub-ledger level, but you will receive messages at the GL level when attempting to post the transaction.  What I have suggested to people in the past when Inactivating accounts, is to remove this account from Sub-ledger setups at the same time.  This way, the account isn't hit at the Sub-ledger level, and ensures that you can post in the GL without running into warning messages.

    Hi,

    In addition to Lucas's response, when you inactivate an account, I would also unmark the 'Allow Account Entry' checkbox and unmark all of the options in the 'Include in Lookup' section.
