power user does not see chart of accounts in lookup

Hello,

I have an issue where a new user has been created with power user privilege. I am logged into the correct company. I can access everything and even Financials,Cards,Accounts, and click on the lookup but nothing shows. The top left drop down option is checked for "All Accounts".

I've tried scrolling up and down thinking it would show, I've tried deleting the user and re-creating the user, unchecking power user and saving and rechecking power user and saving, I've run the grant.sql script in SQL.

I'm not sure what is happening. Has anyone run into this issue before?

TIA,

Jae

I forgot to include that his is for GP 2010 and GP is launched from Windows Server 2008 R2. I am able to see the chart of accounts as sa or any other user that has the appropriate permissions. It is just with the newly created user that is having the issue.

First, try logging out of GP and then back in as this new user. If that does not correct the problem try running the grant.sql script in SSMS and if that does not work unlick PowerUser, save the setting and then click PowerUser again. If all else fails, drop the user completely and start over again.

Richard, if you look at my 1st post, I've tried all of your suggested already.

Does the GP user ID have spaces or any other reserved characters? If create a new account for this user try something basic and assign the same privileges.

No spaces, the user id is in the format John Doe = johnd.

I just created another separate user "tester" with gave it power user permissions but I'm not able to see anything when I click on Financials, Cards, Accounts, lookup glass. When I switch to the test company, I can see all the accounts.

Try going to Tools->Setup->System->Alternate Forms and Reports and select the ID assigned to this user. Select Dynamics as the Product and Windows as the Type and then Financial and Account. Toggle back and forth between Dynamics and Smartlist to see if you can either one to work. Also, under Tools->Setup->System->User Security make sure you have the correct Modified Forms and Reports ID selected for this user for all companies.

I figured out the issue. The clients have setup an organization structure assignment but is not using it correctly.

Thanks for the help and quick responses Richard.

I do not have many clients using that and would not have thought of it. Glad it is all figured out now. Good work!
