Hello,
Think of Variant Code as Code to designate a minor different to an Item. The example everyone uses is Color. You have an Item, Shirt, and you have 15 colors. The Variant defines the Color. This appears on Sales documents and related documents.

In short, you can set up multiple variants for the same item.
And you can also create stock keeping units by Item+Variants or Item+Variants+Location.
