No more zup file - are personalization settings lost between environments?

I searched for the forum for an answer to this question, and it sounds like what I want to try cannot be done. I know I can export profiles from one environment and import them into a different environment, but can the individual's personalized settings also be moved between environments? Like the ZUP file from the old Navision days?

Unfortunately, as of now this is not possible. Now the only thing that can be seen is which user has personalized which page, but the content cannot be seen.

Hopefully other experts can give you better advice.
