"Run-time error "-2147417848 (80010108) Automation error: The object invoked has disconnected from its clients"

We are running RMS 2.0 and getting this error "Run-time error "-2147417848 (80010108) Automation error: The object invoked has disconnected from its clients" when loading the journal viewer.  Our label printer was set as the default printer.  When we changed the default printer to an HP laser printer the journal viewer started working again.

    Couple of additional questions? Can you please tell me what version of RMS you are on Richard? Manager or Administrator/Help/Help and About.  What version of Windows is on the machines (any home versions)? And what version of SQL which you can typically find in Control Panel/Programs and features (anything showing 2008 R2 or backwards compatibility by chance)? thank you sir.

    How many registers do you have please?

    How many receipt printers do you have?

    Do you have more than 1 printer configured on the POS machines?

    If yes, are any of them not attached physically to the POS? (meaning wireless, networked, shared, blue toothed or plugged into a hub?) Thank you.

    Hello, we are running into the same situation with a Zebra RW220 printer with RMS 2.0.


    I installed a fake HP usb printer and it did solve the issue.

    However the problem is that we need to keep the Zebra as default to print receipts.

    Is there a permanent fix that has been found without the fake printer workaround?


    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks for the help! This post helped us troubleshoot a new install which was working except for journal viewing.

    I see that you received an Automation error while you are viewing the Journal. I also see that you resolved it by changing your label printer from the default printer.
