Good morning, afternoon, or evening - depending on your location :)
    Hope you are well today!

To set up an alert or notification for items with a "best before" date that is less than 30 days in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, follow these steps:

    Steps to Configure Alerts:
    1. Enable Alert Rules:
      • Navigate to System Administration → Periodic Tasks → Alerts.
      • Ensure that the batch jobs for "Change-based alerts" and "Due date alerts" are running. If not, create a new batch job and set it to run at regular intervals.
    2. Create an Alert Rule:
      • Go to the page where the "Best Before Date" field is located (e.g., Inventory Management or Product Information Management).
      • Right-click on the "Best Before Date" field and select Create Alert Rule.
      • In the "Create Alert Rule" dialog box:
        • Select the event type as "is due in".
        • Set the condition to trigger when the "Best Before Date" is less than or equal to 30 days from today.
    3. Set Up Email Notifications:
      • In the alert rule, enable the option to send email notifications.
      • Configure the email template and recipients for the alert.
    4. Test the Alert:
      • Test the setup by creating or updating an item with a "Best Before Date" that is within 30 days.
      • Verify that the alert is triggered and the notification is sent.

    Hope this helps :)

    Hi,

I am not sure what you mean by "best before". However, the way to do it is the following.

I think the documentation is wrong.
You need to put in (LessThanDate(-30))

    This is with no filter

    With the following filter

    You receive this:

I think with (LessThanDate(7)), you receive everything that is less than 7 days in the future.
Because the logic with + and - should work the same like here (see documentation)
    • More than 30 days from now â€“ Enter (GreaterThanDate(30)).

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hi,

Could you show us what you put in here?

Also, can you check the batch job history for this batch job and see what the result of the batch job is?

My point is, the best before batch job should be checked, if it ran and what the outcome is. If the outcome is nothing, then you wont get any notification and we need to check why that is.
If the best before batch job ran successfully and listed some items, then we need to check the Change base alert batch job, why there was no notification sent.

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hi Adi,

Actually my purpose is to send notification to some stake holders if best before date is less than 30 days from today's date.

So please help in this and how to setup this in D365.

    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi,

I would say a Power Automate flow is the way to go. The alerts is very limited. I think it will only tell you there are items that need to be looked at, but not which one and it only sends to a specific user.

However, i would create a Power Automate flow that has a recurrence and sends out emails to stakeholders. Two things need to be checked.

First, you need to check if there is an entity that allows you to pull the data from D365FO to Power Automate.
Second, a business event could be beneficial, so that when a date before 30 days is reached it sends an event to Power Automate and you can send the mail right away. Without a business event, you would send the same items whenever the flow runs. A solution could be to define the date like best before 30 days and greater than 25 days. Because if you send out the mail via flow each day, you dont want to send the same items that again.

    Kind regards, Adis
