Dynamics GP 9 hangs for a few seconds on startup

I've installed GP 9 on Windows Server 2012 Standard x64. When I start Dynamics GP, the "Welcome to Microsoft Dynamics GP" window shows, the server dropdown is populated and the server I want is selected but the application is unresponsive for 5-10 seconds so I can't enter a User ID. Once it becomes responsive, it seems to work fine and I can log in.

BTW, I have another Dynamics GP instance running on Server 2003 R2 and it starts fine.

Any idea why the hang at startup and how I can get rid of it?

GP 9 on W2012 Server is not supported. Did you use the 32 bit ODBC driver for the DSN. What version of SQL are you using?

Yes using the 32 bit ODBC driver. MSSQL 2000 on another server (Windows Server 2003 R2).

What kind of anti-virus software is on the server? Can you try creating a new DSN and use an older SQL Native client?

Third party add-ons? When the splash screen pops up, GP is loading up the installed modules. It also loads up any customization .dlls in the add-ons folder. More add-ons can also mean slower start up.

Using Webroot SecureAnywhere. I've tried it disabled with the same results. Where do I get an older SQL Native client to try?

When you are in the ODBC administrator does it list older SQL clients when you are setting up a new DSN?

    Otherwise, check out this link.

I don't have an add-ons folder. I reduced the .set file down to this and it still hangs for several seconds on startup/login screen:

No, there is only one native SQL Client shown when adding a new DSN and that is version 6.02.9200.16384. Should I download and try an earlier client?

I tried the SQL 2005 client with the same results.

Try setting up your DSN using the IP address of the server instead of the server name.
