Edit inventory item number

Hi,

We want to edit the "ITEM NUMBER'S"  for our inventory items to change the way they appear on the invoices. Can we edit the existing item numbers or we have to create new ones? I am getting to the item maintenance window as follows - Cards >> Inventory >> Item >> 'item number. Is it possible to edit these fields ? If we have to create new ones, is it possible to delete the now unused ones.

'Thanks.

You can not edit existing items, create new item and delete unused items.

You can use the Professional Services Tools Library to edit both the item description and the item number without any loss of work, open, or historical

records.  Do a search on that tool.

Ken is right.. the only way to rename Inventory Items is to use the PSTL library. Depending on your GP version, you'll have to ask your partner to provide you with the latest version that fits your GP release.

This does work with the PSTL option - I've done it.  We took current inventory item numbers and renumbered some.  You can use an Excel spreadsheet and import them.

Thanks, I have not used PSTL before, but will look into it. Sounds like it will work.

    Thanks a lot.
