Hello,

I have 2 servers: 1 for the Crm2016 FullServer and 1 SqlSqerver

I try to install CRM2016 and everything works fine until the System Checks.

Then, I get this error while checking "Microsoft SQL Server". Microsoft SQL Server version = 11.0.6020.0.

After around 60 seconds of "checking" the "Microsoft SQL Server" and after creating the database MSCRM_CONFIG on the SqlServer machine, I get the Timeout error twice.

Timeout expired.  The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
The wait operation timed out

The MS Sql Server Reporting Service is also not found (although it is installed on the same SqlSqrver and the link I have provided for it is the right one.

After all these errors, the MSCRM_CONFIG database is removed.

Could anyone please reach me a helping hand?

    hi ,

kindly check if there is enough disk space available in the partition where u are trying to install SQL DB.

Also the priviledge for the sql account which you have configured for the same.

    1. There is more than enough free space ... over 100G

    2. The MSSQL$INSTPCH1 has FULL access on both mdf path and ldf path (they are saved on separate drives: mdf on E: and ldf on F: ).

Could it be perhaps the windows firewall?

I cannot turn it off by myself - I do not have enough rights. But I have already asked the team to turn it off for this test system.

Are there any other ideas that I could use?

    I have double checked everything...

    Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard

    Services Running:

    - IIS Admin Service

    - Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service

    - World Wide Web Publishing Service

    - Indexing Service - installed from Server features - Windows Search Service

    - MDAC version 6.0.6020.0 - read from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DataAccess\FullInstallVer

    - ASP.NET 4.5 installed from Server features

    Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 Service Pack 3 (SP3)    11.0.60.20.0

    - Running service: SQL Server Agent service

    - SQL Server full-text indexing - installed from SqlServer install kit

    - SQL word breakers ???? --- is not needed if everything is installed in english.

And it still does bring up the same error :(

    Hello all,

I finally found out the real blocker.

It seams that when CRM makes his final checks, prior to the installation of crm2016, it really creates the databases files MSCRM_CONFIG and myOrg_MSCRM, without attaching them to the database. Then  these are removed.

The problem was that the default size of the to be created database was set to 1024M for both MDF and LDF files.

On my VM, it takes usually 20 second to create a database with these initial values.

Unfortunatly, on the server, starting Management Studio, a blank database was created in 2 minutes !!!!!!!! ::(((((((

This is now being discussed in order to improve the performance, but this is another issue ....

Now, I had to find out how to decrease the default database creation size.

After asking bing, I found out that every new database copies the initial properties from the "model" database.

There I have change the initial size to 300M for both MDF and LDF and ... surprise .... everything works fine now.

    No timeout any more.

    Have a wonderful CRM life!

    Regards,

    Sorin
