Group lines on Purchase order PDF printout

Hi.

We need to group lines on purchase order PDF printout by product number. Internally we sometimes have same product on multiple lines because they are for different projects and distinction between them is needed. But if we are sending the order to our suppliers, all distinct products should have their own line with total amount needed to avoid confusion.

In theory it seems like a relatively simple change to make but I have no idea where to start.

Can someone help us get to the right direction about it?

On premise version 18 updated to 20 within next few weeks.

Thanks

    Hi

I think you need to use AL and tweak your XML. Like adding logic to AL/XML that look for all similar part number then sum them up. Also, another logic to list unique item no. Then show these two in report layout instead of item no and QTY.

But I am not a developer or knowledge of development.

Hi, This looks like just modifying the Layout will do the trick.

    More details: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/ui-how-create-custom-report-layout#to-create-a-custom-layout

But you need knowledge of Layout, for example, RDLC layout.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/report-builder/report-builder-in-sql-server-2016?view=sql-server-ver16

Hope this can give you some hints.

    Thanks.

    Thank you!

    This seems quite helpful.

But are RDLC Reports only way to solve this?

Also would it be possible to use current standard Purchase order report as a baseline and just edit this one to include grouping?

Hi, If you are using the W1 version, the format currently used by Purchase Order is Word layout, which Word cannot do as much as RDL/RDLC.

So I think you have to recreate the Layout and cannot modify it on the existing layout.

    For example,

    Hope this helps as well.

    Thanks.
