Required BC Tables not available in PowerBI

Hi,

Choosing Business Central as a Data Source in PowerBI offers plenty of tables, but not all of them.

Is there a way to load more Business Central tables than offered into PowerBI? Exporting a table from BC to Excel and then loading that into PowerBI is not an option, because it is no live data.

More precisely I can not load the following table into PowerBI:

  • Page "Item Bin Contents (7379, List)", table "Bin Content (7302)"
  • Page "Lot No. Information List (6508, List)",  table "Lot No. Information (6505)"
    and a little more special:
  • page "Lot Numbers by Bin FactBox (9126, ListPart)", temporary table "Lot Bin Buffer (7351)"
This table shows the exact data I want to visualize, but its a temporary table, so I have low hopes to get this one into PowerBI.

I'm looking forward to your answers!

Alex

    Hi.

Not all tables are available in the standard Power BI connector.

You need to expose the tables you need via API using the Web Service page in Business Central.

Use the Create Data Set action and you will be guided to a setup where you can choose the table and the fields to expose.

Once done, the table data will be visible in Power BI.

Adding new pages via the Reporting Data Setup wizard is a solution, however not all pages are suited for Power BI and the might not contain the fields you need.

Better is to develop new API Queries with aggregated data (method=Sum, group-by) with exactly the tables/columns you need.
